About the Journal
What the Kitchen, Bath & Interiors Journal is, who it is for, how articles are researched, and its independence.
The Kitchen, Bath & Interiors Journal (the Interiors Journal for short) is an independent reading site about the inside of New Zealand homes. It covers kitchens, bathrooms and laundries, colour and texture, furniture and finishes, and the planning that sits behind a renovation.
Who it is for
Homeowners and renters who want to understand a project before they spend money on it: what a sensible kitchen layout looks like, why a bathroom needs a proper fan, how to paint an old chest of drawers without breathing in lead dust, or how to write a renovation scope that trades can price fairly.
How articles are put together
Each article is written by the Journal editors from published guidance, building and tenancy rules, and long-standing trade practice. Where a claim rests on a rule or a number, we link to the official or research source so you can check the current version yourself. Rules change, so the official page always wins over anything written here.
We don't sell products, take commissions, run a design service or accept sponsored articles. There are no trackers or advertising scripts on this site.
